How to use Instagram as a sales funnel

Gone are the days when Instagram was just Instagram. Every single day, lots of entrepreneurs are making six-figure income from using the platform the right way.

It doesn’t matter what category you fall into, you could be a Business owner, coach, service provider etc, you could use your page on Instagram as a sales funnel to boost your business.

Let me share a little of my personal experience, some time in April this year, I started a service based business helping small business owners set-up e-commerce websites to sell their products and also set up social media pages and Instagram/Facebook shopping.

The best place to get these kind of clients was definitely Instagram, I shared a couple of posts telling people I was able to do those things and also updated my bio with the details. I started getting leads by doing all of these things I’ll share in detail in this post.

However, I must not fail to mention that, that business has made so much profit, 100% way more than  the product-based business I started months before it.

That goes to show that both service providers and product based businesses can benefit from using Instagram correctly as well.

Here are few important things to do if you want to use Instagram as a sales funnel

1. Treat it like a business not a hobby:

Instead of posting random stuff about your pet or what you ate yesterday on your Instagram page, it’s important to post valuable content that will attract your target audience to your page.

Also it’s important to create a content schedule and post relevant things that not only serves you but serves, inspires/ educates your audience as well. To use your Instagram as a sales funnel, you need to constantly share knowledge surrounding your business/niche, client reviews and let people know you are knowledgeable in the field you are hoping to get clients or customers in.

2.  SEO— Imagine Instagram is a search engine.

In order to attract the right audience and following, ensure you use location tags anytime you post and also in your stories. You may ask for expert advice from SEO consultants. You can reduce the location tag in your stories so it’s not so visible but it would still get highlighted in stories for that location. In order to use Instagram as a sales funnel, you must use  industry specific hash tags  to help you get noticed by people who don’t latest follow you.

3. Set up your shop or Instagram feed to show your product offerings/pricing-

The way you present your business to your customers matters a lot, make sure to take Good photos of your products in well-lit areas preferably with a white background. Check out this free editing apps to help you curate better product photos for your business.

Set-up an online shop! Gone are the days of DM for price! It’s frustrating for customers to have to probe to be able to get information about your product and prices.
Setting up an online shop is so important if you want to have a business that functions with or without your physical presence.

4. Put your link in bio to good use.

Instagram only allows for one link in your bio, however you can make the best of it by using alternative landing pages to add other links.
Linktree, Disha, msha.ke, Mailchimp, linkinbio and many more. I recommend that if you have a website, you should create a specially dedicated link page for your services.

5. Create an Email  List

Offer a freebie that will make customers become email subscribers. Remember you don’t own Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok or any platform. Your own audience is all you’ve got if your page is flagged or taken down, you’ll still have access them with an email list.

What happens after you do the above?

1. After they visit your page, follow you, read your email marketing then they get drawn in to like your photos and another day they see a product they like on your page and they head back to your shop to place a order

2. You encourage them to tag you or use your specific hashtags when they use your product/service, once they do that and share with their audience, another person notices your account. The cycle starts with this new person and it goes on and on.

That’s how you can use your Instagram as a sales funnel.
