FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IN CANADA + LUNCH IDEAS FOR NIGERIAN BORN KIDS

Oh, the joy! The weeks coming up to the first day of school for my son Jason, I was busy hopping from one store to the other trying to find the perfect uniforms, school bag, lunch bag, and shoes.

When it finally hit me that I also have to plan lunch meals for every single day, I became worried.

Lol, you know there is really nothing fancy about most of the meals we eat at home as Nigerians, so I had to come up with a plan as to how to make his lunch box look pretty and still have the right nutrients.

I got his school bag and school shoes at DSW Canada, I went for Skechers because I find that they are most suitable for everyday shoes.

His uniforms, cardigans, and lunch plate and lunch bags, I got from Walmart. I got his socks and face masks from Old Navy. Both stores had quite a great selection of Back to School Items.

I didn’t need to buy crayons, pencils, and other supplies because our church had graciously given us some of those. as a matter of fact, they gave us a school bag also but we already bought him the Paw Patrol one he really wanted.

LUNCH IDEAS

The Lunch box I got has three compartments so these are the things that I planned to make for him to school. Note that eggs and peanuts are not allowed so I had to totally eliminate those from my list.

Lunch Idea 1: Spicy Spaghetti, Chicken weiners, and Grapes

Lunch Idea 2: Jollof Rice, Moi-Moi with fish & Bananas

Lunch Idea 3: French toast with Cheese, Raspberries, and Yogurt

Lunch Idea 4: Potato porridge with fried fish and Apple slices

Lunch Idea 5: White Rice and Ayamase with Buffalo style chicken + Watermelon slices or grapes

These are the few that I am currently using, you can switch them up as much as you want but the key is to ensure that your child is getting the right amount of nutrients. I always put a small pack of cookies, a box of organic juice, and enough water in his bootle.
